Congratulations to members of the Crab Orchard FFA for a successful night at the Section Proficiency Awards & State Degree Interviews!

The three members recommended to earn their State FFA Degree are Wyatt B, Dayton T, and Josh V.  They are the first members from COHS to earn this honor.  The State FFA Degree is the highest degree attainable at the State Level, and is based on the student's FFA engagement, scholastic achievement, and their work in their Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE).  SAE consists of a student completing work in an agriculture-related field outside of the classroom and maintaining accurate records of their experiences.  These students will be awarded their degrees during the State FFA Convention in Springfield this June.

Wyatt B was also named the Section 24 STAR Farmer for his Beef Production SAE.  STAR Farmer is a coveted award given to the FFA member that demonstrates the top production agriculture SAE in the section among State Degree Candidates.  The member must demonstrate outstanding achievement, active FFA participation, and an exemplary scholastic record. Wyatt will move on to the District competition in March.

Ashton F and Josh V also received awards for their SAE proficiency categories.  The Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through their Supervised Agricultural Experiences, have developed specialized skills that they can apply to their future careers.  Ashton won the area of Equine Science Entrepreneurship, and Josh won the area of Agricultural Sales Placement.  Both of these students will also move on to the District competition in March.
