Ben Kissing scored 24 points after being honored for reaching the 2,000-point mark for his career and Crab Orchard rolled to an 84-44 win over Thompsonville in Greater Egyptian Conference play Tuesday night. Kissing, who earlier this season became his school’s all-time leading scorer, became the first Crab Orchard player to reach the historic 2,000-point mark during last week’s GEC Tournament. The Trojans made quick work of Thompsonville, jumping out to a 20-13 lead in the first quarter that was extended to 35-22 at the half.
Drew Johnson dropped in eight of his 19 points in the third quarter, when the Trojans went on a 20-4 run to put the game out of reach. Coty Wece added 14 points and Hunter Arnold chipped in 10, including three 3-pointers. Two of those treys came in the fourth quarter, when the Trojans hit five of their 10 triples for the game.
Crab Orchard is now 22-2 overall and 10-0 in the GEC regular season.
The Trojans take on Egyptian in the SEC-GEC Shootout on Saturday at Southeastern Illinois College starting at 6:30 p.m
