Dear Parents,
The story next week is Mole and the Baby Bird. The phonics skills for this story are the vowel sound ou and words that follow a VCV pattern. The listening comprehension skill is identifying the sequence of a story. We do blend the words on the reading list in class, but they need to be reviewed at home also. Previous sight words and sounds need to be reviewed as well. Daily practice contributes tremendously to your child’s reading progress. The ability to rhyme words is a skill that we work on continuously as it also contributes to your child’s success in reading.
We continue to discuss naming words during our English time of the day.
Students will be measuring and drawing line segments to the nearest centimeter, identifying geometric solids, learning subtraction facts with differences of 1, and identifying a fractional part of a set next week in Math class.
Students are doing an excellent job with the AR program. Keep it up!
