Trojans Take 3rd in GEC Tourney
John Roark, Daily Register
Getting plenty of second chances, the Trojans (16-6) put up 51 second-half points, reversing a 32-27 halftime deficit.
Crab buried nine 3-pointers, including four in the fourth quarter, which began with the score tied, 52-all - thanks to a buzzer-beating trey from Drew Johnson.
Jimmy Barnard twice gave Hardin a narrow lead with baskets, but the Cougars (9-9) trailed the rest of the way after Crab got consecutive scores from freshman Ben Kissing and Adam Perry.
Crab then knocked down three straight 3-pointers to put the game out of reach, two from Tyler Fauver and a third from A.J. Hutchins, making it 67-60.
Crab later went on an 11-3 run to close out the proceedings.
Fauver hit six 3-pointers, finishing with a game-high 26 points, Perry adding 17.
"The 3-point shot is a big part of our offense," Crab coach Jon Brown said. "When we get the open looks, we take them."
The Trojans play tonight at Thompsonville.
