Superintendent's Message
Welcome to the new and improved Crab Orchard CUSD #3 website. We hope that parents, staff, and community members find the site much more user friendly and can get all of the information that they are looking for here.
As I begin my 9th year with the district and starting my 6th year serving as your superintendent, many new and exciting things are happening here at Crab Orchard. The board of education and administration have made many efforts to reduce class size and to that end, we have added more classroom space at the elementary building. Two new classrooms, one for Pre-K and one for Kindergarten, are completed and in use. In addition, much needed storage space and two restrooms were added. Many thanks to the voters as monies for this project will be collected through the 1% Sales Tax collected monthly in Williamson County.
Because of the 1% Sales Tax, property owners in the Crab Orchard District have realized a drop in property taxes again this year. The district has been able to reduce their tax levy from 4.66 in 2007 to 4.30 in 2008 and finally down to 3.82 in 2009, a drop of $0.84 per 100. This is proof positive that the Board of Education has followed through on their promise to the voters.
Again, we look forward to the new school year and hope that each and every one of you do the same.
