Back to School 2010-2011
All students in the Crab Orchard School District will have pictures taken and pay book fees on Thursday, August 5, 2010. High School students will also pick up schedules on this day. High school students should keep to the following schedule: Seniors – 9:00 a.m., Juniors – 10:00 a.m., Sophomores – 11:00 a.m., Freshmen – 12:00 noon. Students in grades Kindergarten – 8th Grade may come in any time between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Book rental is $21.00 for kindergarten, $25.00 for elementary and $30.00 for high school. Application forms for waiver of fees will be available on the date of registration. New students to the district should schedule an appointment to register as soon as possible.
The School Code of Illinois requires physical examinations of all pupils upon entrance into kindergarten, sixth grade and ninth grade. These students must have physicals with proof of required immunizations. Dental examinations are required of all students entering kindergarten, second grade and sixth grade. Students entering kindergarten must also have an eye examination. Under Illinois law, students who are not in compliance with immunization, physical examination, and dental examination requirements must be excluded from school. A sports physical is required for all students participating in sports, prior to tryouts. (If you are required to have a regular school physical, this may also be used for sports.)
All unit teachers will meet at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, August 12, at the Crab Orchard School for an opening workshop. Students in grades K-12 will report to school at 8:05 a.m. , Friday, August 13, for approximately two hours. Buses will run.
The first full day of school will be Monday, August 16, with regular 2:20 dismissal. This will be the first day for serving lunch and breakfast.
